WHY US

Faster decisions and less time and money spent before you even start.

The data that can kill a deal has an expensive habit of arriving after the money’s been spent. Property-management systems, tax-credit compliance tools, filing platforms, grant dashboards — all of it lives downstream, after the award, keeping the books on a decision already made. That's useful, but it's also too late.

We start before the money is spent and stay to the last dollar.

We show up while the deal is still a question: does it win, what's blocking it and who owns the fix. Most of those questions are regulatory and compliance questions, the unsexy middle of public capital and the part we're best at. Compliance doesn't end at the award: fall out of compliance after the money you win and the agency can claw some of it back, so the same rules keep running against the deal until the last dollar is spent. The tools downstream keep the books, but we keep you on the right side of the rules.

A determination, not a dashboard.

A dashboard arranges your data and leaves the judgment to you, which is a polite way of saying it never answers the hard questions. At Skumu, we built a way to use the government's own rules and hand back a judgment to our users right from the start and along the whole application path — go, no go and conditional-go or no-go — meaning we trace what you need to right the problem and move on, and show you the scores the same way an agency's formula would. Filing the paperwork correctly doesn't win the money. Knowing the how and why you can win before you commit the next dollar does.

A wrapper is a weekend build. Skumu is not that.

A workflow tool is a skin on a rented AI model and a competitor can stand one up over a weekend. Swap our AI model for the next one and Skumu still works, because an AI model was never our final product. Skumu's ruleset engines are and so is our ability to parse the deep records of who won and who lost, which gets sharper with every round an agency publishes to go along with our cloud-based orchestration platform that keeps every partner — developer, lawyer, consultant, public affairs and the bank – on the same page.

We built it for public capital instead of building one more generic compliance tool. That's a narrower bet, and we'll admit it, but it's also the one a generic tool can't follow.

The market is real. The category is ours to define. And it's live.

Public capital is a trillion dollars a year, decided by arcane rules filled with ever changing regulatory and compliance needs. Skumu built the layer that runs before any money is spent and stays until the last dollar is closed, and it's running today at app.skumu.ai on real affordable-housing deals. If you work in public capital for a living, we’re here to help.
